Dede Roan

Dede Roan is a recent awardee of COUNT ME IN Urban Rebound, Los Angeles. She is passionate about guiding students and adults to thrive academically, personally and professionally.  Dede earned her BA from Harvard University, a professional theatre arts certificate from the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in London, UK., California clear teaching credentials in English and French from CSU Northridge, and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University. Dede brings substantial experience as an educator and academic coach to her new venture Benoteworthy, Inc.

Dede has been working with high school students full time during the past 14 years and as a full time online teacher over the past 5 years. Dede has been a virtual English and French teacher, academic coach and Department Chair. In the virtual world, Dede creates compelling communities in a synchronous classroom environment with her students utilizing multi-media and a strong collaborative environment in the online classroom. She also enjoys working with her students individually to bring out their strengths. She believes in working with students wholistically in a way that honors their multiple intelligences and diverse learning styles, while empowering them to take charge of their learning. Her background also includes several years of teaching in brick and mortar classrooms.

Additionally, Dede has worked in the Arts for several years, and brings her creativity to her work with students. Dede currently volunteers as a college counselor with MINDS MATTER Los Angeles. She is looking forward to launching Benoteworthy, Inc. and to empowering more extraordinary young minds to move forward in great ways in their education and careers.
