Rachel Bolden-Kramer
Dhamma or Dharma, as the Buddha taught, is the universal truth of the world, and in this world healing is our birthright. Rachel Bolden-Kramer founded Hip Dhamma, a yoga and nutrition company based in Brooklyn, NY, initially as the teacher and coordinator of youth yoga programs in schools. Hip Dhamma Yoga is now the first yoga center in Stuyvesant Heights, BedStuy, offering open-level classes that are suitable for beginners, kids, elders, and seasoned yogis. Hip Dhamma employs teachers of color from the local neighborhood to engage in the Buddhist practice of wise livelihood while serving the community as healers and body workers. Hip Dhamma also offers trainings in mindfulness-based stress reduction and meditation that enhances and honors the innate wisdom for survival reflected in the lives of communities marginalized by race, class, gender, sexuality, and ability. All Hip Dhamma nutrition education is based on the recipes and teachings of Rachel’s forthcoming book, My Food Stamps Cookbook.
We formed a New York corporation for Rachel.
