Meet Jeff Unger (Column 2)

Jeff is admitted to practice law in New York, California, and the District of Columbia. He has degrees in business and law; and a master’s degree in taxation. He is the founder of eMinutes and eResidentAgent. Since founding his firm in 1997, Jeff has become best known as an expert on business organizations, including corporations, LLCs, and partnerships. His innovative services are used as a resource by law firms and businesses in a wide range of industries nationwide.

Jeff is an entrepreneur and a graduate of the nation’s top school for entrepreneurship, Babson College. He was featured in an October 2004 Entrepreneur Magazine cover story – entitled “Best Practices” – about business professionals and entrepreneurship. Jeff founded eMinutes to offer large firm legal expertise exclusively related to the formation and maintenance of LLCs and corporations. In addition to forming dozens of corporations and LLCs each month, eMinutes also maintains corporate minutes and records for thousands of entities, representing nearly every jurisdiction. While eMinutes serves a wide range of industries, it is to go-to source for the formation of entertainment companies and represents dozens of A-list actors, Grammy award winning musicians, and sports figures.

Law Practice

Jeff is an active member of the legal community and is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court. He has also been featured as a speaker, author and commentator in an array of media outlets including the Los Angeles Times, San Diego Union-Tribune, Orange County Register, Denver Post, Los Angeles Daily Journal, Inc. Magazine, Business Week, Tax Notes, LA Daily Commerce, San Diego Business Journal, San Diego Daily Transcript, Journal of Real Estate Taxation and California Lawyer.

Jeff’s law practice is limited to business, corporate and real estate transactions. He is also a frequent expert witness in corporate matters, including corporate formalities for closely held corporations, entity formation, and alter ego liability. Jeff represents a variety of clients and has negotiated many high profile transactions, including the development of a 107,000 square foot destination retail project in Los Angeles, California; the sale of a residential portfolio in the “Little Italy” area of San Diego, which has attracted national awards for the project and its architect-developer; and virtually every aspect of conduit financing, including acquisition, assumption, and defeasance.

Jeff has received an A/V Rating from Martindale Hubbell. The A/V rating is the highest possible rating and indicates “very high to preeminent” legal ability and “very high” ethical standards. Martindale Hubbell has ranked attorneys for over a century. Jeff has also been chosen as a “Super Lawyer,” a designation bestowed upon the top 5% of lawyers as determined by ballots mailed to 65,000 lawyers in the Los Angeles and Orange Counties in every single year since the inception of the award.

Personal

Jeff lives in the Brentwood area of Los Angeles with his with, Leyna,  their beagle, Max.  His son, Adam, is a business student at Ithaca College.
